Current or Past Study:
I was trained as a molecular biologist and I am interested in understanding how cell identity is maintained by genetic and epigenetic mechanisms and to use such knowledge to develop therapeutic tools. During my PhD and postdoc, I studied the two most fundamental cellular processes: DNA replication and gene transcription. I used various genomic approaches to understand the spatiotemporal regulation of these two processes. After my postdoc, I joined the Gene Therapy Program at University of Pennsylvania to help develop next-generation gene therapy vectors. Using my expertise in gene transcription and next-generation sequencing technologies, I developed and optimized high-throughput assays for AAV vector screen in animal models. In Fishell Lab, I plan to leverage my skills in transcription and high-throughput viral screening to develop novel viral tools to study various neuron populations as well as to treat neurological diseases.
