Current or Past Study:
I am interested in the role of activity in cortical interneuron development. While we know that activity is necessary for the migration and maturation of interneurons, what signaling cues underlie this requirement remain unknown. My project examines the role of synaptic and neurotrophic signaling in distinct interneuron subtypes with the goal of understanding how activity-dependent cues instruct the integration of interneurons into cortical circuits.
