  • 2008-2013: ONWAR Neuroscience graduate program, Amsterdam
  • 2002-2007: Neuroscience, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam

Current or Past Study:
I'm interested in the mechanisms that underlie the establishment of inhibitory circuits that are essential for sensorimotor integration in the cortex. Advancements in mouse genetics enable us to study the connectivity of molecularly identified cells within specific behavioral contexts. In the Fishell lab I employed monosynaptic tracing and repeated two-photon imaging of pre- and postsynaptic markers in vivo to study the circuit integration of VIP+ interneurons in the primary somatosensory cortex. Little is known about the timing by which the afferent and efferent connections of this interneuron subtype are being established or the mechanisms that lead to its synaptic specificity.
